Rob is another one of our long serving venue staff who’s great attitude has seen him move up to a management role. He started as a bar back and has since developed a plethora of new skills on his journey to his current position as Duty Manager in Florita’s

What’s been your favourite project you’ve worked on at Apartment Group?

My favorite project so far has been contributing new exciting ideas towards the Florita’s cocktail menu and seasonal drinks menus. Having the freedom and support to experiment with new ingredients and techniques has really helped me progress in the hospitality industry as well as widening my knowledge and skills.

What do you love most about your job?

I love that I can use my role to help make sure other staff members enjoy the environment that they work in and I like bringing people together as a team and seeing the results. Our venues are some of the most prestigious in the city and being a big part of maintaining their reputation and status on Newcastle’s Diamond Strip is very satisfying

What makes Apartment Group different?

The Apartment Group gives people the opportunity to experience all aspects of the hospitality industry by offering a wide range of roles within the many different venues. I’ve not only been able to learn about the bar and drinks operations but also about the legal and financial requirements tied into running such a large and successful venue, experience I’d not get with another chain.

I started from the bottom and now I’m here.

Never be afraid to ask for support if you feel overwhelmed. Make mistakes and ask all the ‘stupid’ questions you want because all the experience you gain, good or bad, will make you better at your job in the long run.
