Tony is a fantastic example of diversification in the group; from spending several years as a bartender in Florita’s and being promoted to management, to then transferring to spend over a year working in the group’s Accounts team and even running weddings at Newton Hall for the summer.

What’s been your favourite project you’ve worked on at Apartment Group?

When I was based in-venue, I spent a lot of time designing staff rotas, stock management and arranging training for new staff but I really enjoyed being part of the development of the venue over the year’s at Florita’s.

Having trained most of the staff it’s great to see the family grow and that our incredibly high standards are always being maintained and even exceeded as time goes on.

What do you love most about your job?

Having such a social job is amazing; both my colleagues and the clientele keep every day interesting and the calibre of the whole team keeps us all working at our best, day in day out.

My eventual aim is to be a General Manager and run my own venue and I know that with the Apartment Group this is a real possibility

What makes Apartment Group different?

The opportunity to diversify and get involved with any aspect of the business you want is refreshing and not something you’d find anywhere else. I spent 4 months based in Newton-by-the-Sea, running the weddings and bar operations, which was a stressful learning experience but really taught me a lot I’d have never known as a Supervisor in a nightclub.

While I was working in the Accounts Department in Head Office, I really began to learn more about wider business operations. I became involved in gross profit margin calculations, budget management, purchase orders; all of which I was able to learn on the job and it’s really improved my management skills as a result!

Anthony's Words of Wisdom...

Never be afraid to ask for support if you feel overwhelmed. Make mistakes and ask all the ‘stupid’ questions you want because all the experience you gain, good or bad, will make you better at your job in the long run.
